Obituary of Ludvik Foltin

Mr. Ludvik J. "Lud" Foltin Jr., 83, of 583 John St., Little Falls, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the Little Falls Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Little Falls, son of the late Ludvik Sr. and Katherine (Adasek) Foltin and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. Lud joined in marriage with the former Ann Hooks July 26, 1947, at St. Mary's Parish House in Little Falls. Mr. Foltin was a United States military veteran of World War II. He had last worked for over 42 years with Cherry Burrell in Little Falls as a foreman. Lud was a life member of the Little Falls Elks Lodge BPOE 42 in Little Falls, along with being a life member of the Little Falls American Legion Post 31. Throughout the years, he had made many friends at these fine organizations, and it was at the American Legion where he gained the utmost satisfaction. He was the Legion Bowl Fund treasurer and spent many pleasurable moments tending to the Bell Jar. Lud was also known to be an avid bowler in his day, and loved to dance and really found interest in the idea of sports in general. He was a former Little League manager and at one time had the honor of serving as a player-manager for the Little Falls Independents, a feat in which he took great pride. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann of the home address; one son, Brad Foltin of Wilmington, Calif.; his brother, Robert Foltin of Latham; in-laws, Joe and Arlene Ehlinger of Little Falls, John and Frances Hooks of Findlay, Ohio and Mrs. Leo Hooks of Muscatine, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews and even cousins in the area of Mjava, Slovakia. He was predeceased by his son, John Foltin. In keeping with Lud's wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal funeral service at this time. A memorial service will be announced later this spring at a time convenient to the family. Final interment will take place at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in the town of Little Falls. Lud was treated with tender loving care at the Little Falls Hospital, and this warm concern offered will never be forgotten by his family. Those wishing are kindly asked to consider donations in his memory to a charity of their preference. The family has selected the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls, to coordinate all funeral arrangements upon their behalf.
